Ibn Hazm, the great Zahiri scholar of Andalusia, critically examines Judaism, Christianity, Zoroastrianism, and the various Islamic sects with his characteristic sharp logic. His textual criticism of the Bible represents one of the earliest systematic attempts at biblical criticism, centuries before similar efforts in European scholarship.
