A companion work to at-Tamhid, this commentary on al-Muwatta is organized by topic rather than by narrator. Ibn Abd al-Barr covers the jurisprudential issues raised by each hadith, presenting the positions of all schools with their evidence. Together with at-Tamhid, it forms the most comprehensive treatment of al-Muwatta.
