The most important foundational text of the Maliki school after the Muwatta itself. Sahnun compiled the legal opinions transmitted from Imam Malik through his student Ibn al-Qasim into a comprehensive fiqh work covering all chapters of law. It is the primary source for early Maliki jurisprudence.
