أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ سَعْدَ بْنَ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ ، يَقُولُ :" لَقَدْ رَدَّ ذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى عُثْمَانَ، وَلَوْ أَجَازَ لَهُ التَّبَتُّلَ، لَاخْتَصَيْنَا "
English Translation
It was narrated from Sad ibn Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ rejected that for Uthman, and had he permitted celibacy for him, we would have castrated ourselves.'
