Hadith #1487
Arabic Text
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْ
فٍ صُفْرَةً، فَقَالَ : " مَا هَذِهِ الصُّفْرَةُ؟ "، قَالَ : تَزَوَّجْتُ امْرَأَةً عَلَى وَزْنِ نَوَاةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، قَالَ :" بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ، أَوْلِمْ وَلَوْ بِشَاةٍ "

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade shighar marriage. Shighar is when a man gives his daughter in marriage to another man on the condition that the other gives his own daughter to him in marriage, without any mahr between them.
