Arabic Text
أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ : أَنَّهُ طَلَّقَ امْرَأَتَهُ وَه
ِيَ حَائِضٌ، فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ عُمَرُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ :" مُرْهُ أَنْ يُرَاجِعَهَا وَيُمْسِكَهَا حَتَّى تَطْهُرَ، ثُمَّ تَحِيضُ، ثُمَّ تَطْهُرُ، ثُمَّ إِنْ شَاءَ، أَمْسَكَ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ طَلَّقَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَمَسَّ، فَتِلْكَ الْعِدَّةُ الَّتِي أَمَرَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يُطَلَّقَ لَهَا النِّسَاءُ "

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he divorced his wife while she was menstruating, and Umar mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, who said: 'Tell him to take her back and keep her until she is pure, then has her period, then is pure again; then if he wishes he may keep her and if he wishes he may divorce her before touching her, for that is the prescribed waiting period as Allah has commanded for the divorce of women.'
