Arabic Text
أَخْبَرَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ :" إِذَا نُودِيَ بِالصَّلَاةِ، أَدْبَرَ الشَّيْطَانُ لَهُ ضُرَاطٌ حَتَّى لَا يَسْمَعَ الْأَذَانَ، فَإِذَا قُضِيَ الْأَذَانُ، أَقْ
بَلَ، وَإِذَا ثُوِّبَ، أَدْبَرَ، فَإِذَا قُضِيَ التَّثْوِيبُ، أَقْبَلَ حَتَّى يَخْطِرَ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَنَفْسِهِ، فَيَقُولُ : اذْكُرْ كَذَا وَكَذَا، لِمَا لَمْ يَكُنْ يَذْكُرُ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ ". قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد : ثُوِّبَ : يَعْنِي : أُقِيمَ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When the call to prayer is made, Satan turns around with flatulence so that he does not hear the adhan. When the adhan is finished, he comes back. When the iqamah is made, he turns around again. When the iqamah is finished, he comes back and whispers between the person and his own self, saying: 'Remember such-and-such, remember such-and-such,' reminding him of things he had not thought of before, until the man does not know how many rak'ahs he has prayed.'
