English Translation
It was narrated from Said ibn al-Musayyib that he was asked: 'A man prays at home, then catches the imam while he is still praying — should he pray with him?' He said: 'Yes.' He was asked: 'Which one counts for him?' He said: 'The one he prays with the imam, for Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) told us that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When a man prays and then goes to the mosque and finds them praying, he should pray with them, and both prayers will count for him — one obligatory and one supererogatory."'
