Chain of Narration (Isnad)

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ الْحُمَيْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ سَبْرَةَ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ الْجُهَنِيُّ

، حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ سَبْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" عَلِّمُوا الصَّبِيَّ الصَّلَاةَ ابْنَ سَبْعِ سِنِينَ، وَاضْرِبُوهُ عَلَيْهَا ابْنَ عَشْرٍ "

English Translation

It was narrated from Sabrah ibn Ma'bad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah  ﷺ said: 'Teach your child to pray when he is seven years old, and discipline him for it when he is ten.'
