English Translation
It was narrated from Ubadah ibn al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man from Syria who had been a companion claimed that the Witr prayer was obligatory. Al-Mukhdaji came to Ubadah ibn al-Samit and told him. Ubadah said: 'He lied. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Five prayers which Allah has prescribed for His servants...' and the man said he would not perform extra prayers. The Prophet said: 'He will enter Paradise.' Ubadah said: 'The Witr is not obligatory.'
