English Translation

It was narrated from Wahb al-Dhimari that he said: "Whoever is given the Quran by Allah and stands with it during the night and day, acts upon what is in it, and dies in a state of obedience — Allah shall resurrect him on the Day of Judgment alongside the scribes and those who judge. (Sa'id explained: 'The scribes are the angels, and those who judge are the prophets.') As for the one who is zealous but it keeps slipping from him, yet he does not abandon it — he shall receive his reward twice over. And whoever is zealous over it but it keeps slipping from him and he dies in a state of obedience — he is among the most noble of them, and they are preferred over other people just as eagles are preferred over other birds, and as a lush green meadow is preferred over the surrounding land. On the Day of Judgment it will be said: 'Where are those who used to recite My Book, who were not distracted by following their livestock?' And they shall be given everlasting life and bliss. If both of his parents died in a state of obedience, crowns of kingship shall be placed upon their heads, and they shall say: 'Our Lord, our deeds did not reach this.' And it will be said: 'Yes, for your son used to recite My Book.'"
