English Translation

It was narrated from Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "I was sitting with the Prophet ﷺ and heard him say: 'Learn Surah al-Baqarah, for taking it is a blessing and abandoning it is a loss, and the sorcerers cannot withstand it.' He then fell silent for a moment, then said: 'Learn Surah al-Baqarah and Al 'Imran, for they are the two luminous ones, and they shall shade their companion on the Day of Judgment as if they were two clouds, or two canopies, or two flocks of birds in formation. The Quran shall meet its companion on the Day of Judgment when the grave opens for him — like a pale man — and say to him: "Do you recognize me?" He will say: "I do not recognize you." It will say: "I am your companion the Quran, who made you thirsty on hot days and kept you awake at night. Every merchant benefits from his trade, and today you benefit from every trade." He shall be given sovereignty in his right hand, eternity in his left, and a crown of dignity placed on his head. His parents shall be clothed in two garments whose value the entire world cannot match, and they shall say: "Why were we clothed in this?" And it will be said: "Because your child took up the Quran." Then he will be told: "Recite and ascend through the levels and chambers of Paradise" — and he shall keep ascending as long as he recites, whether he recites swiftly or slowly.'"
