Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زَيْدٍ سَعِيدُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ مُهَاجِرٍ، قَالَ : " جَاءَ رَجُل زَمَنَ زِيَادٍ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ ، فَسَمِعْتُهُ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَسِيرٍ لَهُ، قَالَ : وَرُكْبَتِي تُصِ
يبُ أَوْ تَمَسُّ رُكْبَتَهُ، فَسَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَقْرَأُ : قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ ، قَالَ :" بَرِئَ مِنَ الشِّرْكِ "، وَسَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَقْرَأُ : قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ، قَالَ : غُفِرَ لَهُ "

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu al-Hasan Muhajir that he said: "A man came to Kufa in the time of Ziyad, and I heard him narrating that he had been with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey — his knee was touching or near the Prophet's knee ﷺ — and the Prophet ﷺ heard a man reciting 'Say: O you disbelievers' (Surah al-Kafirun) and said: 'He has declared himself free of polytheism.' Then he heard another man reciting 'Say: He is Allah, One' (Surah al-Ikhlas) and said: 'He has been forgiven.'"
