حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَاجِرِ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ الضَّمْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَدِمْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ سَفَرٍ فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ، فَلَمَّا ذَهَبْتُ لِأَخْرُجَ، قَالَ : " انْتَظِرْ الْغ
َدَاءَ يَا أَبَا أُمَيَّةَ ". قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : إِنِّي صَائِمٌ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ. فَقَالَ :" تَعَالَ أُخْبِرْكَ عَنْ الْمُسَافِرِ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَضَعَ عَنْهُ الصِّيَامَ، وَنِصْفَ الصَّلَاةِ ". قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد : إِنْ شَاءَ، صَامَ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ، أَفْطَرَ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Umayyah al-Damri (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ after a journey, and the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Come, let me tell you about the traveler. Allah has removed from him the obligation of fasting and half the prayer.' Abu Muhammad said: 'He may fast if he wishes, and break his fast if he wishes.'
