Hadith #1054
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ ، أَنَّ مَوْلَى قُدَامَةَ بْنِ مَظْعُونٍ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّ مَوْلَى أُسَامَةَ حَدَّثَهُ، قَالَ : كَانَ أُسَامَةُ يَرْكَبُ إِلَى مَالٍ لَهُ بِوَادِي الْقُرَى، فَيَصُومُ الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالْخَمِيسَ فِي الطَّرِيقِ، فَقُلْتُ لَ
هُ : لِمَ تَصُومُ الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالْخَمِيسَ فِي السَّفَرِ وَقَدْ كَبِرْتَ وَضَعُفْتَ أَوْ رَقِقْتَ؟ فَقَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَصُومُ الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالْخَمِيسَ، وَقَالَ : " إِنَّأَعْمَالَ النَّاسِ تُعْرَضُ يَوْمَ الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالْخَمِيسِ "

English Translation
It was narrated from the freed slave of Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Usamah (ibn Zayd) used to fast on Mondays and Thursdays while traveling to his property in Wadi al-Qura. When asked why he fasted on those days despite his old age and weakness, he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast on Mondays and Thursdays, and he said: "The deeds of people are presented on Mondays and Thursdays."'
