حَدَّثَنِي عِصْمَةُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ الْجُعْفِيُّ ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهِ عَنْهُمَا، قَالَ : جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَس
َلَّمَ، وَقَالَ : إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ الْهِلَالَ. فَقَالَ : " أَتَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، وَأَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ؟ " قَالَ : نَعَمْ. قَالَ : " يَا بِلَالُ،نَادِ فِي النَّاسِ، فَلْيَصُومُوا غَدًا "

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a Bedouin came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'I have seen the crescent.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do you testify that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Yes.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'O Bilal, announce to the people that they should fast tomorrow.'
