The Chapters on Divorce

Arabic Text

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّهَا أَعْتَقَتْ بَرِيرَةَ فَخَيَّرَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ وَكَانَ لَهَا زَوْجٌ حُرٌّ ‏.‏

English Translation

It was narrated from Aishah that:she freed Barirah and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave her the choice, and she (Barirah) had a free husband
