Hadith #2844

Arabic Text

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ، أَنْبَأَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم حَرَّقَ نَخْلَ بَنِي النَّضِيرِ وَقَطَعَ ‏.‏ وَهِيَ الْبُوَيْرَةُ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ‏{مَا قَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ لِينَةٍ أَوْ تَرَكْتُمُوهَا قَائِمَةً }‏ الآيَةَ ‏.‏

English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ burned the palm trees of Banu Nadir, and cut down Buwairah (the name of their garden). Then Allah revealed the words:“What you (O Muslims) cut down of the palm trees (of the enemy), or you left them standing...” [59:]
