The Book of Jihad and Expeditions
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَر
ِيَّاءُ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ . وَزَادَ قَالَ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ أَسْلَمَ أَحَدٌ مِنْ عُصَاةِ قُرَيْشٍ غَيْرَ مُطِيعٍ كَانَ اسْمُهُ الْعَاصِي فَسَمَّاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مُطِيعًا .

English Translation
The same tradition has been narrated on the authority of Zakriyya through the same chain of transmitters with the following addition:" No rebellious Quraishite with al-Asi as his name embraced Islam that day except Muti. His name-was al-Asi, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ (way peace be upon him) changed his name to Muti
