Hadith #131
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنِي أَبُو نَضْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ صَاحِبَ التَّمْرِ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلّ
َمَ بِتَمْرَةٍ فَأَنْكَرَهَا قَالَ أَنَّى لَكَ هَذَا فَقَالَ اشْتَرَيْنَا بِصَاعَيْنِ مِنْ تَمْرِنَا صَاعًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْبَيْتُمْ

English Translation
Abu Sa'id (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the owner of dates came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with excellent dates. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Are all the dates of Khaybar like this?' He said: 'No, O Messenger of Allah. We buy one sa' of these with two sa' [of ordinary dates].' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do not do that. Rather, sell the inferior dates for dirhams, then buy the superior dates with the dirhams.'
