Chain of Narration (Isnad)

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى الْمَهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ

الْخُدْرِيِّ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ بَعْثًا إِلَى لَحْيَانَ بْنِ هُذَيْلٍ قَالَ لِيَنْبَعِثْ مِنْ كُلِّ رَجُلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا وَالْأَجْرُ بَيْنَهُمَا

English Translation

Abu 'Amir narrated to us, 'Ali — meaning Ibn al-Mubarak — narrated to us, from Yahya who said: Abu Sa'id, the freed slave of al-Mahri, narrated to me, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه), that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Indeed this matter (the caliphate) is among the Quraysh. No one opposes them regarding it except that Allah throws him down on his face, as long as they establish the religion.'
