English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, Sulayman ibn 'Ali al-Rab'i narrated to us who said: I heard Abu al-Jawza' who said: I heard Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) giving a fatwa about currency exchange. He said: So I issued the same fatwa for a time. Then I met him and he retracted, saying: Indeed Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) informed me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Do not sell gold for gold or silver for silver except like for like, and do not sell any of them absent for present.' So Ibn 'Abbas retracted his opinion.
