حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرٌ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ يَزِيدَ بْنَ الْأَصَمِّ يَقُولُ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ حَدِيثٌ

لَا أَحْسِبُهُ إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَيْسَ الْغِنَى عَنْ كَثْرَةِ الْعَرَضِ وَلَكِنَّ الْغِنَى غِنَى النَّفْسِ وَاللَّهِ مَا أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ الْفَقْرَ وَلَكِنْ أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ التَّكَاثُرَ وَلَكِنْ أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ الْعَمْدَ

English Translation

Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) narrated — and I think he raised it to the Prophet ﷺ — who said: 'Richness is not in having many possessions, but true richness is the richness of the soul.'
