حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ صُرِعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ فَرَسٍ عَلَى جِذْعِ نَخْلَةٍ فَانْف
َكَّتْ قَدَمُهُ فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ نَعُودُهُ فَوَجَدْنَاهُ يُصَلِّي فَصَلَّيْنَا بِصَلَاتِهِ وَنَحْنُ قِيَامٌ فَلَمَّا صَلَّى قَالَ إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الْإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ فَإِنْ صَلَّى قَائِمًا فَصَلُّوا قِيَامًا وَإِنْ صَلَّى جَالِسًا فَصَلُّوا جُلُوسًا وَلَا تَقُومُوا وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ كَمَا يَفْعَلُ أَهْلُ فَارِسٍ بِعُظَمَائِهَا
Isnad Chain
English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir (رضي الله عنهما), who said: the Prophet ﷺ was thrown from a horse onto a palm tree stump and his foot was dislocated. We entered upon him to visit him and found him praying while sitting. So we prayed behind him sitting, and he gestured to us to sit down. When he finished the prayer, he said: 'When the imam prays sitting, then pray sitting.'
