حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبَانَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ جَارِيَةَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّ
هِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِكِلَابِ الْمَدِينَةِ أَنْ تُقْتَلَ فَجَاءَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّ مَنْزِلِي شَاسِعٌ وَلِي كَلْبٌ فَرَخَّصَ لَهُ أَيَّامًا ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ كَلْبِهِ

English Translation
Isma'il ibn Aban Abu Ishaq narrated to us, Ya'qub narrated to us, from 'Isa ibn Jariyah, from Jabir al-Ansari (رضي الله عنه), who said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that the dogs of Madinah be killed. Then Ibn Umm Maktum came and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, my house has two doors, and I am a blind man. I have harmful creatures (in my house). Is there anything wrong if I keep a dog?' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'No (it is permissible for you).'"
