English Translation
Wakīʿ narrated to us, Sufyān narrated to us, from Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd, from ʿAbāyah ibn Rifāʿah, from his grandfather Rāfiʿ ibn Khadīj, who said: Jibrīl — or an angel — came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'What do you count among those who were present at Badr?' He said: 'The best of the Muslims' — or a similar phrase. He said: 'Likewise, those among the angels who were present at Badr are the best of the angels among us.'
