Hadith #365

English Translation

Bahz narrated to us, Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, Yaʿlā ibn ʿAṭāʾ informed us, from Wakīʿ ibn Ḥudas, from his uncle Abū Razīn al-ʿUqaylī who said: 'O Messenger of Allāh, will each of us see his Lord عز وجل on the Day of Resurrection? And what is the sign of that in His creation?' The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'Does not each of you look at the moon clearly by himself?' He said: 'Indeed.' He said: 'Then Allāh is greater.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allāh, how does Allāh bring the dead to life, and what is the sign of that in His creation?' He said: 'Have you not passed by the valley of your people when it was barren?' He said: 'Indeed.' He said: 'Then have you not passed by it when it was lush and green?' I said: 'Indeed.' He said: 'Then have you not passed by it when it was barren [again]?' He said: 'Indeed.' He said: 'Likewise Allāh brings the dead to life, and that is His sign in His creation.'
