قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَمْعَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِي

َّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَذْكُرُ النِّسَاءَ فَوَعَظَ فِيهِنَّ وَقَالَ عَلَامَ يَضْرِبُ أَحَدُكُمْ امْرَأَتَهُ وَلَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يُضَاجِعَهَا مِنْ آخِرِ النَّهَارِ أَوْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ

English Translation

Wakīʿ narrated to us, from Hishām, from his father, from ʿAbdullāh ibn Zamʿah who said: I heard the Prophet ﷺ mention women, and he admonished regarding them, saying: 'Why does one of you beat his wife, when he may lie with her at the end of the day — or the end of the night?'
