Hadith #555

قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْبٌ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو قِلَابَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ثَابِتُ بْنُ الضَّحَّاكِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ وَكَانَ مِمَّنْ بَايَعَ تَحْتَ الشَّجَرَة
ِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ بِمِلَّةٍ سِوَى الْإِسْلَامِ كَاذِبًا فَهُوَ كَمَا قَالَ وَمَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسَهُ بِشَيْءٍ عُذِّبَ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَلَيْسَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ نَذْرٌ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ
Isnad Chain
English Translation
ʿAbd al-Ṣamad narrated to us, Ḥarb narrated to us, Yaḥyā narrated to us, he said: Abū Qilābah narrated to me, he said: Thābit ibn al-Ḍaḥḥāk al-Anṣārī — who was among those who pledged allegiance under the tree — narrated to me that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'Whoever swears by a religion other than Islam while lying, he is as he said. Whoever kills himself with something will be punished with it on the Day of Resurrection. And there is no binding vow upon a man regarding what he does not own.'
