قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ صَعْبِ بْنِ جَثَّامَةَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَرَّ بِي وَأَنَا بِالْأَبْوَاءِ أَوْ بِوَدَّانَ فَأَهْدَيْتُ لَه
ُ حِمَارَ وَحْشٍ فَرَدَّهُ عَلَيَّ فَلَمَّا رَأَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْكَرَاهِيَةَ فِي وَجْهِي قَالَ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ بِنَا رَدٌّ عَلَيْكَ وَلَكِنَّا حُرُمٌ قُلْتُ لِابْنِ شِهَابٍ الْحِمَارُ عَقِيرٌ قَالَ لَا أَدْرِي حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ الصَّعْبِ بْنِ جَثَّامَةَ أَنَّهُ أَهْدَى إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِمَارَ وَحْشٍ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ فَذَكَرَهُ

English Translation
ʿAbdullāh narrated to us, Muḥammad ibn Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn Jurayj informed us, he said: Ibn Shihāb informed me, from ʿUbaydullāh ibn ʿAbdillāh ibn ʿUtbah, from ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAbbās, from al-Ṣaʿb ibn Jaththāmah who said: He passed by me while I was at al-Abwāʾ or Waddān, and I gifted him a wild donkey. He returned it to me, and when the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ saw the displeasure on my face, he said: 'It is not that we are rejecting your gift, but we are in a state of iḥrām.' I said to Ibn Shihāb: 'Was the donkey slaughtered (ʿaqīr)?' He said: 'I do not know.' Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us, he said: Ibn Abī Dhiʾb informed us, from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUbaydullāh ibn ʿAbdillāh ibn ʿUtbah, from Ibn ʿAbbās, from al-Ṣaʿb ibn Jaththāmah, that he gifted the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ a wild donkey while he was in iḥrām — and he mentioned the hadith.
