Hadith #205

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ وَسَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ رَبِّهِ بْنَ سَعِيدٍ أَخَا يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ خَرَجَ إِلَى الصُّبْحِ فَوَجَدَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الصُّبْحِ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ رَكَعَ رَكْعَ
تَيْ الْفَجْرِ فَصَلَّى مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَامَ حِينَ فَرَغَ مِنْ الصُّبْحِ فَرَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْ الْفَجْرِ فَمَرَّ بِهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ مَا هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةُ فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَسَكَتَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَضَى وَلَمْ يَقُلْ شَيْئًا

English Translation
It was narrated from Mu'awiyah ibn al-Hakam al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him) that Mu'awiyah ibn al-Hakam al-Sulami said: 'While I was praying with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a man sneezed and I said: "May Allah have mercy on you." The people stared at me. When they kept silent, I remained quiet. After the prayer, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Talking is not appropriate during prayer — it consists of glorification (tasbih), takbir, and recitation of the Quran."'
