Hadith #39

قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ وَأَبِي النَّضْرِ مَوْلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُصَلِّي جَالِسًا فَيَقْرَأُ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ فَإِذَا بَقِيَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ قِرَاءَتِهِ قَدْرُ مَا يَكُونُ ثَلَاثِينَ أَوْ أَرْبَعِينَ آيَةً قَامَ فَقَرَأَ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ ثُمَّ يَفْعَلُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ
English Translation
It was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray sitting. He would recite while sitting, and when there remained of his recitation enough for him to complete it before ruku, he would stand, recite the remaining portion, then bow.
