حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ وَيَزِيدُ الْمَعْنَى قَالَا أَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ السُّوَرَ قَالَتْ الْمُفَصَّلَ قُلْتُ أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا قَالَتْ نَعَمْ بَعْدَمَا حَطَمَهُ النَّاسُ قُلْتُ أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى قَالَتْ لَا إِلَّا أَنْ يَجِيءَ مِنْ مَغِيبِهِ قُلْتُ أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصُومُ شَهْرً
ا سِوَى رَمَضَانَ قَالَتْ لَا وَاللَّهِ إِنْ صَامَ شَهْرًا تَامًّا سِوَى رَمَضَانَ وَلَا أَفْطَرَهُ كُلَّهُ حَتَّى يَصُومَ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا قُلْتُ أَيُّ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ قَالَتْ أَبُو بَكْرٍ قُلْتُ ثُمَّ مَنْ قَالَتْ ثُمَّ عُمَرُ قُلْتُ ثُمَّ مَنْ قَالَتْ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ قَالَ يَزِيدُ قُلْتُ ثُمَّ مَنْ قَالَ فَسَكَتَتْ

English Translation
It was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she was asked whether the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fasted a full month other than Ramadan. She replied: 'By Allah, he never completed a full month of fasting other than Ramadan, nor did he break a full month without fasting some of it.' She was then asked which of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was most beloved to him. She said: 'Abu Bakr.' She was asked who came next. She said: 'Umar.' She was asked who came next. She said: 'Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah.' Then the questioner asked again, and she fell silent.
