حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ عَمْرَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَعْتَكِفَ صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ فِي الْمَكَانِ الَّذِي يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَعْتَكِفَ فِيهِ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَعْتَكِفَ الْعَشْرَ الْأَوَاخِرَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ فَأَمَرَ فَضُرِبَ ل
َهُ خِبَاءٌ وَأَمَرَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَضُرِبَ لَهَا خِبَاءٌ وَأَمَرَتْ حَفْصَةُ فَضُرِبَ لَهَا خِبَاءٌ فَلَمَّا رَأَتْ زَيْنَبُ خِبَاءَهُمَا أَمَرَتْ فَضُرِبَ لَهَا خِبَاءٌ فَلَمَّا رَأَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَلِكَ قَالَ الْبِرُّ تُرِدْنَ فَلَمْ يَعْتَكِفْ فِي رَمَضَانَ وَاعْتَكَفَ عَشْرًا مِنْ شَوَّالٍ
Isnad Chain
English Translation
It was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she described the i'tikaf incident: Aisha and Hafsa both had tents set up for them during i'tikaf. When Zaynab saw their tents she had one set up for herself too. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw this, he said: 'Is it righteousness you seek?' and he did not perform i'tikaf during Ramadan that year — instead he performed it during the ten days of Shawwal.
