حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ رُومَانَ عَنْ ع
ُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهَا يَا عَائِشَةُ لَوْلَا أَنَّ قَوْمَكِ حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ لَأَمَرْتُ بِالْبَيْتِ فَهُدِمَ فَأَدْخَلْتُ فِيهِ مَا أُخْرِجَ مِنْهُ وَأَلْزَقْتُهُ بِالْأَرْضِ وَجَعَلْتُ لَهُ بَابَيْنِ بَابًا شَرْقِيًّا وَبَابًا غَرْبِيًّا فَإِنَّهُمْ عَجَزُوا عَنْ بِنَائِهِ فَبَلَغْتُ بِهِ أَسَاسَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام

English Translation
It was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her: 'O Aisha, were it not that your people are new to leaving disbelief, I would have commanded that the House be demolished, included what was excluded from it, leveled it with the ground, and given it two doors — an eastern door and a western door — and thus reached the foundations of Ibrahim, peace be upon him. But they were unable to build it that way.'
