Hadith #189
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ يُونُسَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَنَّ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ قَالَ بَيْن
َمَا نَحْنُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَتَذَاكَرُ مَا يَكُونُ إِذْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِجَبَلٍ زَالَ عَنْ مَكَانِهِ فَصَدِّقُوا وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِرَجُلٍ تَغَيَّرَ عَنْ خُلُقِهِ فَلَا تُصَدِّقُوا بِهِ وَإِنَّهُ يَصِيرُ إِلَى مَا جُبِلَ عَلَيْهِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Umm al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: "We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ discussing what would happen, when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'If you hear that a mountain has shifted from its place, believe it. But if you hear that a man's character has changed, do not believe it — for he will return to what he was created upon.'"
