Hadith #26
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ صَالِحٍ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ عَنِ الْبَهِيِّ عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَجْعَلْ لَهَا سُكْنَى وَلَا نَفَقَةً قَالَ حَسَنٌ قَالَ السُّدِّيُّ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِإِبْرَاهِيمَ وَالشَّعْبِيِّ فَقَالَا قَالَ عُمَرُ لَا تُصَدِّقْ فَاطِمَةَ لَهَا السُّكْنَى وَالنَّفَقَةُ

English Translation
It was narrated from Fatima bint Qays (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet ﷺ did not grant her accommodation or maintenance. Umar ibn al-Khattab said: "We will not abandon the Book of Allah the Almighty and the Sunnah of His Prophet ﷺ for the statement of a woman — she may have forgotten. She is entitled to accommodation and maintenance."
