Hadith #269

حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ قَالَ ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي شَهْرٌ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ يَزِيدَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةَ تُحَدِّثُ زَعَمَتْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ يَوْمًا وَعُصْبَةٌ مِنْ النِّسَاءِ قُعُودٌ فَأَلْوَى بِيَدِهِ إِلَ
يْهِنَّ بِالسَّلَامِ قَالَ إِيَّاكُنَّ وَكُفْرَانَ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ إِيَّاكُنَّ وَكُفْرَانَ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ قَالَتْ إِحْدَاهُنَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ مِنْ كُفْرَانِ اللَّهِ قَالَ بَلَى إِنَّ إِحْدَاكُنَّ تَطُولُ أَيْمَتُهَا وَيَطُولُ تَعْنِيسُهَا ثُمَّ يُزَوِّجُهَا اللَّهُ الْبَعْلَ وَيُفِيدُهَا الْوَلَدَ وَقُرَّةَ الْعَيْنِ ثُمَّ تَغْضَبُ الْغَضْبَةَ فَتُقْسِمُ بِاللَّهِ مَا رَأَتْ مِنْهُ سَاعَةَ خَيْرٍ قَطُّ فَذَلِكَ مِنْ كُفْرَانِ نِعَمِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَذَلِكَ مِنْ كُفْرَانِ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ

English Translation
It was narrated from Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet ﷺ passed by women and said: "Beware of ingratitude toward those who bestow blessings. Beware of ingratitude toward those who bestow blessings." One of them said: "O Messenger of Allah, I seek refuge in Allah from ingratitude toward Allah!" He said: "Indeed, one of you may remain unmarried for a long time, then Allah gives her a husband and grants her children and joy of her heart, but then she becomes angry and swears by Allah that she has never seen a good moment from him — and that is ingratitude toward the blessings of Allah."
