English Translation
It was narrated from Safwan ibn Umayya (may Allah be pleased with him) that a thief was brought to the Prophet ﷺ who ordered his hand to be cut. He said: "O Messenger of Allah, is a striped garment worth thirty dirhams enough to have someone's hand cut? I will gift it to him or sell it to him." He said: "Why did you not do that before bringing him to me?"
