Hadith #62
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي دَيْلَمٌ أَبُو غَالِبٍ الْقَطَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الْحَكَمُ بْنُ جَحْلٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ الْكِرَامِ أَنَّهَا حَجَّتْ قَالَتْ فَلَقِيتُ امْرَأَةً بِمَكَّةَ كَثِيرَةَ الْحَشَمِ لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِنَّ حُلِيٌّ إِلَّا الْفِضَّةُ فَقُلْتُ
لَهَا مَا لِي لَا أَرَى عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْ حَشَمِكِ حُلِيًّا إِلَّا الْفِضَّةَ قَالَتْ كَانَ جَدِّي عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ عَلَيَّ قُرْطَانِ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شِهَابَانِ مِنْ نَارٍ فَنَحْنُ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ مِنَّا يَلْبَسُ حُلِيًّا إِلَّا الْفِضَّةَ

English Translation
It was narrated from a woman of the family (may Allah be pleased with her) that a man said to her: "Why do I not see anyone among your household wearing any jewelry except silver?" She said: "My grandfather was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I was with him, and I was wearing two gold earrings. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Two flames of fire.' So we, the members of this household — none of us wears any jewelry except silver."
