Hadith #598
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَنْبَأَنَا زَكَرِيَّا عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ
الْحَارِثِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ تَقْرَءُونَ { مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصَى بِهَا أَوْ دَيْنٍ } وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَضَى بِالدَّيْنِ قَبْلَ الْوَصِيَّةِ وَإِنَّ أَعْيَانَ بَنِي الْأُمِّ يَتَوَارَثُونَ دُونَ بَنِي الْعَلَّاتِ يَرِثُ الرَّجُلُ أَخَاهُ لِأَبِيهِ وَأُمِّهِ دُونَ أَخِيهِ لِأَبِيهِ

English Translation
It was narrated that an-Nazzal bin Sabrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that a vessel of water was brought to ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) and he drank whilst standing, then he said: I have heard that some people dislike it if one of them drinks whilst standing. But I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do what I have done. Then he took some of the water and wiped himself. Then he said. This is the wudoo` of one who has not broken his wudoo’.
