حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ طَاوُسًا عَنْ رَجُلٍ رَمَى الْجَمْرَةَ بِسِتِّ حَصَيَاتٍ فَقَالَ لِيُطْعِمْ قَبْضَةً مِنْ طَعَامٍ قَالَ فَلَقِيتُ مُجَاهِدًا فَسَأَلْتُهُ وَذَكَرْتُ لَهُ قَوْلَ طَاوُسٍ فَقَالَ رَحِمَ اللَّهُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَمَا بَلَغَهُ قَوْلُ سَعْدِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ رَمَيْنَ
ا الْجِمَارَ أَوْ الْجَمْرَةَ فِي حَجَّتِنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ جَلَسْنَا نَتَذَاكَرُ فَمِنَّا مَنْ قَالَ رَمَيْتُ بِسِتٍّ وَمِنَّا مَنْ قَالَ رَمَيْتُ بِسَبْعٍ وَمِنَّا مَنْ قَالَ رَمَيْتُ بِثَمَانٍ وَمِنَّا مَنْ قَالَ رَمَيْتُ بِتِسْعٍ فَلَمْ يَرَوْا بِذَلِكَ بَأْسًا

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn Abi Najih who (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that i asked Tawus about a man who threw six pebbles at the Jamrah. He said: 'Let him give a handful of food [as expiation].' He said: Then I met Mujahid and asked him, mentioning the statement of Tawus. He said: 'May Allah have mercy on Abu Abd ar-Rahman. Has he not heard the statement of Sa'd ibn Malik? He said: We threw the pebbles — or the Jamrah — during our Hajj with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and some of them were the size of date stones.'
