Hadith #89
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُل
ٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ إِنِّي نَذَرْتُ أَنْ أَنْحَرَ نَاقَتِي وَكَيْتَ وَكَيْتَ قَالَ أَمَّا نَاقَتُكَ فَانْحَرْهَا وَأَمَّا كَيْتَ وَكَيْتَ فَمِنْ الشَّيْطَانِ

English Translation
It was narrated that a man from Banu Asad (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that `Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) came out to us and they asked him about Witr. He said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to pray witr at this time. O Ibn An-Nabbah, give the adhan - or, say the iqamah.
