English Translation

It was narrated from Muhammad ibn Sirin that Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) was with a group of people who were reciting the Quran. He went to relieve himself, then returned and was reciting the Quran. A man said to him: 'O Commander of the Faithful, are you reciting the Quran without having performed wudu?' Umar said to him: 'Who gave you this fatwa — Musaylimah?' (Indicating that reciting Quran without wudu from memory is permissible)
