English Translation
It was narrated from Nafi' that Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hurairah asked Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) about what the sea throws out (dead sea creatures washed ashore), and he forbade him from eating it. Nafi' said: 'Then Abdullah turned back, called for the Mushaf, and recited: {Lawful for you is the game from the sea and its food} (5:96).' Nafi' said: 'Abdullah ibn Umar sent me to Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hurairah with the message that there is no harm in eating it.'
