The Book of Cutting off the Hand of the Thief
Arabic Text
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَ
ا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ أَيْمَنَ، قَالَ لَمْ تَكُنْ تُقْطَعُ الْيَدُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِلاَّ فِي ثَمَنِ الْمِجَنِّ وَقِيمَتُهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ دِينَارٌ .

English Translation
Ayman (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that "The hand of a thief would not be cut off during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except for the value of a shield, which in those days was a Dinar." (Daif)
