The most widely accepted creedal statement in Sunni Islam. At-Tahawi, a Hanafi jurist, summarized the beliefs of Ahl us-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah in a concise text that scholars of all four schools have endorsed. It covers the attributes of Allah, prophethood, the unseen, predestination, and the status of the Companions. Dozens of commentaries have been written on it, the most famous by Ibn Abi al-Izz.
