Al-Fusul fi Sirat ar-Rasul — which may be translated as 'Chapters on the Biography of the Messenger' — is a condensed seerah work by Ibn Kathir designed to provide a reliable and accessible account of the Prophet's life without the expansive detail of his larger Al-Bidayah wal-Nihayah. It represents Ibn Kathir's effort to distill the essential narrative of the prophetic biography into a manageable and pedagogically useful form.

His synthesis of these materials, filtered through his critical methodology, produces a seerah account that is both historically substantive and methodologically responsible.

The relative brevity of Al-Fusul compared to the seerah sections of Al-Bidayah wal-Nihayah makes it well suited as an introductory or intermediate text.
