Introduction to Explanation of the Nullifiers of Islam

A commentary by the senior Saudi scholar Shaykh Ibn al-Uthaymin on the ten actions that nullify Islam according to the Hanbali scholar Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab. These nullifiers (nawaqid al-Islam) are drawn from the Quran, authenticated Sunnah, and the consensus of Islamic scholars — and awareness of them is essential for every Muslim.

The ten nullifiers include: shirk with Allah; making intermediaries between oneself and Allah; not declaring polytheists to be unbelievers; preferring the law of other than Allah; hating any aspect of what the Prophet brought; mocking any part of the religion; practicing or seeking magic; supporting non-Muslims against Muslims; and leaving the religion entirely.

Shaykh Ibn al-Uthaymin's explanation clarifies each nullifier with evidence, distinguishes between the act itself (which is clearly prohibited) and applying the judgment to specific individuals (which requires conditions and the removal of preventive factors). This is essential knowledge for guarding one's Islam and avoiding what destroys it.
