3. Bias towards Fixed Ideas and Certain Individuals

Fanaticism for an adopted view or for a specific group ofpeople may impede a person from following proofs and grasping the truth. Allah, Exalted be He, says: '~nd where it is said to them, 'Follow what Allah has revealed: they say, 'RDther, we will follow that which we found ourfathers doing:" (Quran: Al-Baqarah: 170) This is the state of the followers of Sufism and grave-worshippers who, when being summoned to follow the Book ofAllah and the Sunnah ofHis Prophet, take hold of their saints and the doctrines of their forefathers.
